Service 01

Websites & SEO

A site that loads fast, reads clearly, ranks where your customers are looking — and gets quoted when they ask an AI instead of Google.

Last updated 25 August 2026

In short

We design and build fast WordPress websites for New Jersey and New York City businesses, then keep them maintained, secure and optimized so they rank in local search and get cited by AI answer engines. The service covers design and build, ongoing maintenance and hosting oversight, local and technical SEO, content, and AI search optimization — either as a one-time build or an ongoing monthly plan.

The problem

Your website is probably costing you money in ways nobody has shown you.

Most small business websites fail quietly. They don’t crash. They just take four seconds to load on a phone in a parking lot, bury the phone number two scrolls down, describe services in language nobody searches for, and give Google no structured reason to prefer them over the competitor down the road.

Then there’s the newer problem: a growing share of searches now end in a generated answer instead of a list of links. If your site isn’t structured so a machine can extract a clean, confident answer from it, you don’t appear in that answer at all — no matter how well you rank on page one.

Both problems are fixable, and both are measurable before and after.

What we check on the audit

  • Mobile load time and Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS)
  • Whether Google has indexed every page you care about
  • Title tags and meta descriptions — missing, duplicated or truncated
  • Heading structure and keyword coverage against real search demand
  • Schema markup present, valid, or absent entirely
  • Internal linking and orphan pages
  • Whether AI engines can access and quote your content
  • Conversion path: how many taps from landing to booked

What’s included

Four parts, one service.

Part 01

Website design & build

Custom WordPress, built on a lightweight block theme rather than a bloated page builder. Designed mobile-first, because that’s where the majority of local searches happen.

  • Discovery, sitemap and wireframes before any design
  • Custom design in your brand — not a repainted template
  • Copywriting for every page, written after interviewing you
  • Mobile-first responsive build, tested on real devices
  • WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility baseline
  • Forms, click-to-call, booking embeds and tracking wired in
  • Training session and documentation so your team can edit it

Part 02

Maintenance & hosting oversight

A WordPress site left alone for a year is a security incident waiting to happen. Maintenance is the least exciting and most important line item on this page.

  • Core, theme and plugin updates tested on staging first
  • Daily offsite backups with quarterly restore drills
  • Security hardening, firewall and malware scanning
  • Uptime monitoring with alerts inside one minute
  • Monthly speed and Core Web Vitals check
  • Broken link and 404 monitoring
  • Small content edits included every month

Part 03

Local & technical SEO

Ranking for “service + near me” in a dense market like NJ or NYC is a structural problem before it’s a content problem. We fix the structure, then feed it.

  • Keyword research against real local search demand
  • A page for every service you want to be found for
  • Genuine location pages — never find-and-replace doorway pages
  • Title, meta, heading and internal link architecture
  • Schema markup: LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, Breadcrumb, Article
  • Core Web Vitals, crawl budget, sitemaps, canonicals, redirects
  • Monthly content aligned to what people actually ask
  • Local link building: chambers, associations, partners, press

Part 04

AI search optimization

Getting cited inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews is a different discipline from ranking. It’s in every plan we sell, at no extra charge.

  • Direct-answer blocks: the question resolved in the first 60 words
  • Question-shaped headings that mirror how people actually ask
  • Structured data so machines can parse your facts
  • Concrete, citable specifics — numbers, timelines, processes
  • Entity consistency across your site, profile and every directory
  • An llms.txt file and deliberate AI-crawler policy
  • Monthly citation tracking across the major answer engines

How it works

A website build, start to finish.

Typical timeline: four to six weeks for a standard business site. You’ll know which week you’re in at all times.

Discovery & strategy — week 1

We interview you about the business, the customers, and the jobs that are actually profitable. We research what those customers search, study the three competitors who outrank you, and agree a sitemap and keyword map before a single pixel is designed.

Copy & structure — week 2

Every page is written and approved as a document first. Building around unfinished copy is how sites end up with beautiful sections that say nothing. You review, you edit, you sign off.

Design — week 2–3

Homepage and one interior template designed to the approved copy. Two rounds of revisions included. Once you approve the templates, the rest of the site follows the same system — which is why it stays consistent.

Build & optimize — week 3–5

WordPress build on a staging URL you can watch. Images compressed and converted, fonts self-hosted, schema added, forms and tracking wired, accessibility checked as we go rather than bolted on at the end.

QA & launch — week 5–6

Real devices, real browsers, real test submissions, real test bookings. Redirects mapped from every old URL. Analytics and Search Console verified. Then we launch in a low-traffic window and monitor for 48 hours.

Compound — ongoing

Monthly content, technical maintenance, ranking and AI-citation tracking, and a plain-English report. A site that launches and then sits still starts losing ground within about six months.

Standards

What we build to.

These aren’t aspirations. They’re the pass/fail criteria on every site we launch, and you can verify all of them yourself with free public tools.

A good fit if

  • You serve customers in New Jersey or New York City
  • Your site is slow, dated, or invisible in local search
  • You want to own the site outright, on standard WordPress
  • You’re willing to spend an hour with us on discovery
  • You want the AI search side handled now, not in two years

Not a good fit if

  • You want a five-page site for under $1,000
  • You are a national brand or need enterprise e-commerce with thousands of SKUs
  • You want guaranteed number-one rankings by a fixed date
  • You want a site built but no maintenance afterwards — we’ll build it, but we’ll be honest that unmaintained WordPress becomes a liability

Works well with

What to pair this with.

A ranking website sends people to a Google Business Profile, and a strong profile sends people back to the site. Reviews close both. These are the two services most clients add first.

Pricing at a glance

Questions

Websites & SEO, answered.

How much does a website cost in New Jersey or NYC?

Website builds start at $1,499 for a standard 6–10 page business site with custom design, written copy, SEO structure and schema. Larger sites — many service pages, several practice areas or trades, multiple locations, or integrations into a practice or shop-management system — cost more, in proportion to what’s in them. You get a fixed written scope and price before work starts — no hourly surprises, and you find out your number on the first call.

How long does SEO take to work?

Technical fixes and on-page work can move rankings in 4–8 weeks. Meaningful, durable organic growth usually takes 3–6 months to become visible and 6–12 months to become your main lead source. Competitive NYC categories take longer than suburban NJ ones. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is either buying ads or lying.

Why WordPress instead of Wix, Squarespace or Webflow?

Ownership and ceiling. WordPress powers over 40% of the web, runs on hosting you control, and can be moved to any host at any time. Closed platforms are simpler at the start but cap what you can do with SEO, schema, integrations and automation — and you can never take the site with you. If you already have a Squarespace or Webflow site that’s working, we’ll optimize it rather than force a migration.

What exactly is AI search optimization?

It’s structuring your website so AI answer engines — ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot — can extract and cite your business when someone asks a question you should be the answer to. Practically: direct answers in the first 60 words of a section, question-shaped headings, valid structured data, concrete specifics instead of marketing adjectives, consistent facts across every profile you own, and a deliberate policy on which AI crawlers may read your site. We track which engines cite you each month.

Do I own the website when it’s finished?

Completely. The domain is registered in your name, the hosting account is yours, and you hold the WordPress administrator credentials from day one. There’s no proprietary builder to get locked into and nothing to buy out if you decide to work with someone else.

Will I be able to update the site myself?

Yes. We build on the standard WordPress block editor and run a recorded training session at handoff covering the edits owners actually make — text, images, hours, staff, prices, blog posts. Every care plan also includes a monthly allowance of edits if you’d rather we just did it.

Can you fix my existing site instead of rebuilding it?

Often, yes, and it’s usually cheaper. We start with a technical audit and give you a straight recommendation with the numbers behind it. If a rebuild genuinely costs less than the repairs, we show you the math rather than asking you to take our word for it.

Do you build location pages for every town we serve?

Only where we can write something genuinely local — real projects, real landmarks, real specifics about that market. Mass-generated city pages made by find-and-replace are treated by Google as doorway spam and can hurt the whole domain. We’d rather build eight strong location pages than eighty thin ones.
